Salford Victoria FC
National FA Charter Standard Adult Club of the Year

2004

Salford Victoria FC is once again leading the way in the City by becoming one of the first Clubs in Salford to receive the prestigious FA Charter Standard for Adult Football Clubs and THE first club to receive the Manchester FA Charter Standard Adult Club of the Year Award.  The Club is immensely proud of this Award and our Charter Standard so we work very hard to make sure that we maintain it.

The FA Charter Standard Clubs programme, supported by FA Community Partner McDonald's, was launched in February 2001 and is a core component of The FA Football Development programme so Salford Victoria are very proud to be recipients.

The Club has always set itself high standards in every area of the Club and over the years this has been recognised and rewarded by The FA, Salford Sports Council, Greater Manchester Sports Council and Manchester County FA. The latest awards we have won prove that the Club is a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone to learn the beautiful game.

The Club has an open policy and everyone is very welcome, no trials are held and no player is ever told they are not good enough. The coaches work with the players to improve their individual skills and teamwork. Although winning is important, it is not the only measure of success, with playing the game well, in a sporting manner and enjoying the game, working for one another as a team high on the agenda.

As a Club we pride ourselves on the approach we take to encouraging adults to play, but we also help to develop their skills in coaching, officiating and administrating the game. All our coaches this summer will be going on FA Coaching Courses (Levels 1 and 2) The cost of sending our members on coaching or other relevant courses has been funded in part by Manchester United and by New Deals for Communities based in the Kersal and Charlestown areas of Salford.

We are very proud of what the Club has achieved in just 8 very short years. The older players will remember when we were a single team playing on a muddy, bumpy pitch on Duncy Matheson Playing fields. The Club is now has 4 senior teams and is proud to be one of the few Clubs in Greater Manchester to boast a ladies section making us one of the largest open-age football Clubs in Salford and we are continuing to expand year by year.

What are benefits to the Club?
Clubs that are successful in achieving the Charter will get access to a range of benefits:

• Use of Charter Standard Crest
• Exclusive Regional Workshops
• Access to Child Protection Training
• Kit and Equipment Grants
• National and Regional Awards
• Subsidies for FA Junior Team Managers and other courses
• Certificates
• Starter Pack, including posters, Codes of Conduct, Certificates
• First Aid kit
• Tickets to England Internationals

However maybe the most important benefit is the recognition from The FA, that the club provides a safe, quality experience for its players.

What's next?
The Club wants to achieve the next step on the Charter Standard ladder and become a Development Club in the next few years. Headway has already been made in gaining this with a number of coaches qualified to the FA Coaching Certificate level.
